Why many people refuse to drink substantial water to enhance their health status is a question many people including Scientists have not found an answer to even though researches show that the water available on earth today is 17% and only 29% of the soil is dry land.
Funny how some people drink a lot of water while other takes as little as that which could make them survives. Allah gave each of his creatures ls different lessons, to a particular animal he gave the ability to travel sometimes without water, a camel can live and travel without water and this explains why it is used as a source of transportation, especially for a long-distance journey, so since we are not camels blessed with this, we must appreciate our nature and drink as much as we should. Scientists have carried out various kinds of research on the importance of water and the important roles it plays in the proper functioning of the general body system. The Quran state among other things that water is not only essential for us but it is the source of life for man, a verse state” Have not does who believe knows that the heavens and the earth were joined together as United peace, then we parted then? And we have made from water every living thing. Will they not then believe?” (Quran 21:30). Water is not only crucial for human beings but animals too and even for plants, and scientists have said the first thing that the body needs to survive is oxygen while the next to it is water which helps to build our cells. Though s thirsty man may walk half a mile without water but his health status would have improved significantly if he has taken it at the appropriate time. The taking of water is important but many underestimate it. The prophet is on record saying, “The best drink in this world and the next is water.” How Important Water is People who suffer from diseases like immune disease, Diabetes, constipation, headache, heartburn, etc are normally advised to take water for it helps to improve their health status. Many people have formed the habit of taking little water just to ensure sustainability and carry on their normal daily activities unknown to them research work has shown that water is essential for the chemical reactions in their body and when it is not enough for some internal organs to carry out the activities a lot of diseases may result which include dehydration ( and in the event of dehydration the body will draw from water within and the cells will be dehydrated for lack of water), headache, excess body fat, poor muscle tone, soreness, indigestion. Etc. The importance of drinking water can never be overemphasized and some are as follows: It helps the process of digestion, it helps in the absorption in the body, apart from the fact that the drinking of water is important for our health it also sunnatic to drink water as the prophet is on record to have said”. “When you have a thirst, Drink (water) by sips and do not drop it down………gulping water produces sickness of the liver”, dehydration, replenish body fluid, prevent constipation, it aids circulation, helps to regulate body temperature, and it also keeps the body hydrated. Water helps the kidney forward proper functioning and in a work order, water equally helps in the elimination of excess fat in the body, the brain also needs water for proper functioning and research shows that the absence of water makes the brain function ineffectively, it also dilutes the calcium in the urine and thus help kidney to prevent the development of kidney stones due to lack of enough water. Though many countries of the world suffer from a lack of water and it is said that almost a billion people have no access to clean water it is pertinent to note that Nigerians are supposed to be one of the most grateful countries to Allah (SWT) because we are blessed with a season when we got a lot of water last us for the whole year if properly manage and utilize. (ALHAMDULLILAHI ROBIL ALAMIN). So I wonder why a Nigerian should be found with the habit of not drinking enough water. In the holy Quran, the importance of water discusses in detail and the world water is mentioned in over sixty places in the holy Quran, Allah says “…. and sent down water (rain) from the sky…” (Quran 2; 22) also He said”… And the water which Allah sends down from the sky and makes the Earth alive…” (Quran 2:164) and these verses also shows that we blessed with water and therefore we should appreciate and drink as appropriate. Our special water Muslims are blessed and we must appreciate these blessings so that they will turn into a curse for us, we can appreciate these blessings by acknowledging them and by judicious use of them. Apart from the normal water, we use activities we are still blessed with special water which improves our health and also serves as a medicine for all diseases once it is drunk to cure my Allah. The zamzam water improves the health of the drinker and serves the purpose for which it was drunk, the prophet is in the record to have said “…. If a person suffers from any diseases and he or she takes zamzam water it will serve the purpose for which it was drunk, recently Um Ibrahim, a 63-year-old lady suffering from leukemia (blood cancer) for the last three years was cured with zamzam water. In one narration the prophet is on record to have said that” The best water on the face of the earth is the water zamzam, it is a kind of food and healing from sickness.” In another Hadith, he (SWW) said “zamzam is what one intends to drink it for when one drinks it to be healed Allah heals him, we one drink it to be full, Allah makes him full, and when one drink it to quenches him”. I advise my leader to always quench people’s tastes whenever there is an avenue for them to do so having at the back of their mind the fact that they will be beautifully rewarded by Allah as seen in the story of the prostitute who gained simply because she quenched the thirst of not even a human being but an animal.
